Undergraduate studies at the Queen Mary College, University of London, UK (B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering, 1978). Graduate studies at the University of Indianapolis, USA (M.B.A., 1988) and at the Queen Mary College, University of London, UK (Ph.D. in Systems Theory, 1981). He has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of London, UK (1981-1983). He has taught as Lecturer at the Higher Technical Institute, Cyprus (1984-1989), and as Visiting Professor and Professor at the University of Indianapolis, USA (1989-1992). He is Associate Editor of the scientific journal Technology and Health Care, Area Editor of the scientific journal IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, and he is on the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Journal of Intelligent Systems. He is a Fellow of IEE and the British Computer Society (BCS), and a Senior Member of IEEE. He is Director of Computational Intelligence Research at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
His research interests include Computational Intelligence, Artificial Neural Networks and Systems Theory, with applications to Medicine and Diagnostic Systems.
